I don't know what it is about many of us that makes us wait to get ourselves healthier. I hear so many people say I'll work on my fitness, eating habits, weight loss, etc after the baby comes or when my littlest goes to pre-school then I can focus more on me. I think many are guilty of this one.... I'll start right after New Year's day. I've even had people hold off until after the Super Bowl so they don't feel guilty about what they eat that day. Then there are those that don't even think about their health until some terrible illness or health problem arises. Which I am personally guilty of. I was 28 yrs old was in OK physical condition, did not eat the best and definitely did not get enough exercise. I was a single mother and worked full time and absolutely did not take time for myself. Until I was diagnosed with breast cancer. What a shocker that was, 28, no family history, no other real risk factors. So I made it through after 7 months of chemo followed by 6 weeks of radiation therapy. Because of the type of cancer it was I am unable to use hormone therapy to help keep it from coming back. My doctor told me the best way I could stay cancer free was exercise, eating right and staying within a healthy weight range. So I got myself signed up at a gym, hired a trainer, kept a food journal and worked my butt off (literally) to get myself into shape. That was 6 years ago and now I am a personal trainer and own a franchise called StrollerFit® which helps moms get back into shape after baby or keep up their fitness routine while pregnant. I exercise regularly, eat well (plenty of fruits & veggies) most of the time, I'm only human so like most of you understand I do slip up. But why did it take this to get me to listen, it's always better to take care of ourselves now. Don't wait! We all know the benefits of exercise, right? Reduces your risk of getting many diseases, lowers your blood pressure, lowers cholesterol, keeps us feeling great and the list goes on and on and on and on!
Even if you're 8 months pregnant and think well I've gone this far so I guess I'll just eat better after to lose the baby weight. Start now, there's no better time to start than right now. It'll be so much easier to lose that baby weight if you instill in yourself good eating habits now. Why not start that New Year's Resolution before the New Year, it's OK to have a cheat day. Start now and have your cheat day for the holiday parties and for that matter the Super Bowl party you might attend. If you need help or a kick in the pants to stay motivated sign up for a bootcamp or if your a mom with a little one check out StrollerFit® classes, what better way to teach your children the importance of exercise than to include them in mom and baby stroller fitness classes. Ok so there was my rant for the week, please take care of yourselves and really start thinking about why it's important for you to be healthy.

I could not agree more. I never felt better than I did when I was working out. I need to get back into it ASAP!! My gym membership expired about a month ago and now I am looking at doing strollerfit with you...just trying to see if it fits in the budget right now. :)
